What are we up to?
Many discussions have been had lately about the future of journalism. Where are we headed? How are we going to get information? What will information look like? How will it be packaged?
Case in point: Newspapers are going under at an alarming rate. They just aren't the preferred medium any more. What will replace these relics that so many of us old-timers have grown to love?
We're on a precipice of great change in the field, and now, more than ever, we hear the cry for convergence. Journalists can't JUST be newspaper reporters. They better have the skills to write, to investigate, to photograph, to videotape, to package information, to repackage information for the Internet. The more skills you have, the more marketable you will be.
That begins the discussion for this semester. What do you think?
